Candeejack Terriers is a small home-based kennel in Midland, Virginia, which is located about an hour southwest of Washington, D.C. The journey with Jack Russell Terriers started in 1998. Like many other JRT owners, I fell in love with the breed at a horse show. Horse people love this feisty, energetic and vermin hunting terrier. My first JRT was an 8 week old male puppy, named Jack. After a few months, I decided to get another JRT puppy. Not knowing any better, I got another male puppy. Let’s just say, I learned to manage terriers shortly afterwards.
In October 2000, I acquired a cute little tri-color, rough coat female puppy, Fox Run Little Rascal. Rascal became the foundation stock for Candeejack Terriers. She has since gone over the rainbow bridge at 15.5yrs old, but she was the best little terrier. She became a registered Therapy Dog in 2003 and did therapy visits at our local hospital for 10 years. Everyone loved Rascal and her friendly, outgoing personality.
Rascal’s legacy lives on through her offspring and their offspring. Stitch, a Rascal daughter from her one and only litter, had several litters of puppies, one of which produced Candeejack Ditto. Ditto was a very competitive show dog, winning numerous first place ribbons, and several Best and Reserve Best Terrier Champions at the Breezewood trials. Both Stitch and Ditto are retired now. Stitch is my couch potato and Ditto a companion for an elderly gentleman. I currently have several of Ditto’s offspring to carry on the Candeejack name.
The Slide Show & Gallery is a summary of the last 15 years of raising Candeejack Terriers… Enjoy!
